Khloe is so funny when she sleeps

Ok for all those mothers out there who have already discovered all the joys and sweet things babies do when they are sleeping I apologize that I am so "Johnny come lately" but I have to share some really cute photos I took a few nights in a row of our little peanut in her different sleep poses. She makes the funniest noises when she sleeps as if she is constantly moaning or cooing herself to sleep, sometimes I can hardly sleep myself I just start laughing and giggling so hard I want to pick her up and kiss her little chubby cheeks. I then try and block it out and not pay attention but it is seriously so loud you can't help but listen and laugh. She is so funny.
Ok, so Iwas watching "The Dr's" show one morning while I was giving her a bottle and they were talking about how to properly swaddle your baby and they mentioned that you should swaddle your baby at night up until about 4-6 months especially becasue all newborns have this "startle reflex" when they sleep and just throw their little arms straight in the air as if they are falling and want to be caught....I was so disapointed that ALL babies did that I ACTUALLY thought Khloe was the only one and thought it was the cutest thing, It's still cute but now I realize she is not unique in doing this...LOL! Oh well you live and learn!

Khloe has Dr's appt. today to get her 2 month shots early so we can go to FL and be around all of her cousins next week (except for Mia and Drake, unfortunately they are not able to make the trip which we are all so sad about that) she has to get 4 or 5 shots, I am so worried and nervous! I will update the blog and let you know how she did. I am literally sick to my stomach thinking about my little peanut having to get these shots!!! Please pray that everything goes ok for her today!

Khloe is 1 month old!!!

Ok guys sorry for not updating more often. I thought I would have time to update this blog at least every few days while on maternity leave, wow was I wrong!! As some of you mom's already know your time is not your own anymore. I think that is the hardest thing I have had to learn. There's no more jumping in the car and running to pick up milk or a few items at the grocery store, or going to get my hair cut whenever I needed to like before or even the occasional treat to the nail salon. As I found out the other day just to run and make a deposit at the bank takes a calculated prep time of over an hour to leave the house :0, I am sure I will get better at this. But it is all worth it when you watch her eyes open big when I pick her up from a nap as if to say "oh great Mama is here now" or that smile of satisfaction after her first few GULPS of her bottle. She is so cute and I love just holding her soft satin little hands and feet when I'm feeding her. It is such a blessing from God to have received such a good little girl, I know I have done NOTHING to deserve such a good baby as my brother Brock so painfully pointed out, LOL ;) But you know he is absolutely right!

I want to share a sweet little story from this morning. Paul had given her a bottle last night while I was asleep around 12:30am and then put her down to sleep. She slept all the way until about 6am when I heard her grunting and moaning and thought she was just trying to poop so I left her alone until I heard her start to cry around 6:15am. When I picked her up she smiled at me and started to try and suck on the side of my neck, I giggled and looked at her as I walked to the kitchen to get her bottle (we have about 2 min before a complete meltdown) she was moving her head from side to side and sticking her tongue in and out and looked like she was wanting to eat anything in her path...she reminded of the old video game Ms. Pac Man ready to chomp and devour anything in sight, I laughed so hard and loud I think I startled her. She looked and smiled and continued her Ms. Pac Man face until I put the bottle in her mouth I thought she would suck the whole bottle in her tiny little mouth. She is so funny when it comes to eating!!
I have taken a few random pictures of her over the last week or so. I got a few of her on her tummy mat for the first time...SHE DID NOT LIKE THAT AT ALL!! I also tried to get a few of her in some adorable outfits we have for her before she outgrows them. Oh by the way she had her 1 month appt on Monday 5/10 and she is now 10 lbs 6 oz and is 22 inches long now. She has her next appt on 5/28 to get about 5 of her vaccine shots before we go to FL to spend time with my brother Paul and his family and April and her family and my mom and Terry. That should be a lot of fun!!!
Khloe's 1st tummy time on her new play mat...she is mad!

Maxx trying to lick Khloe's feet during her 2nd try at tummy time exercise's. He is not a dog that EVER licks anyone but with Khloe we have caught him trying to lick her ear or her feet whenever he gets the chance, maybe that's his way of showing his love for her!

I just LOVE this outfit, it is so adorable! FYI tummy time was not as effective with a pasifier (sp?) in her mouth LOL! She was not working on her neck muscles or upper body strength at all just content to have her pasy!

The 3 us went to Piedmont park on Mother's day after our late lunch together.

Her new purple dress I love so much!

This bib is so funny, we got a huge pack of them that all say crazy things like..."high chair hottie", or " attitude problem", or "no autographs please"

Typical right before her bottle....

And after her few GULPS of her bottle when she smacks her lips in satisfaction!!

I will try and take more pictures of her over the next few days and post shortly. Thanks everyone for checking in on our blog, We love you all!

Khloe's 1st Dr's Appt

Khloe had her 1st Dr.'s appt. on Monday 4/19. Paul had to work so my mom went with us. Which was nice since this was our first attempt to leave the house since we came home from the hospital. She did wonderful. Her pediatrician's name is Dr Lori Desoutter and so far we love her. She tested her reflexes, checked her ears, nose and throat and her skin color to make sure she did not have jaundice. She weighed in at 8 lbs 11.6 oz so she has gained a little since she was born at 8 lbs 11.3 oz. Dr. Lori was very pleased to hear that Khloe is eating on most feedings 4oz and sleeping on average about 4 hours (sometimes 5 hours) between each feeding. ( I have been told by my brother Brock that I have hit the jack pot with Khloe that this is definitely not normal) Dr Lori also agreed that I should be so thankful that Khloe is such a good sleeper and eater. That seems so funny to me as Paul and I both LOVE to eat and sleep....seems like the apple has not fallen too far from the tree, huh?

I promised Grandma Pat that I would take pictures of Khloe's hand's and feet so she could see every detail about our little precious angel as Grandma Pat lives so far away and will unfortunately miss out on these tiny little treasures...so here you go Grandma Pat. Hope you all enjoy them as well.

Khloe Sylvia Muriuki

Our Little Khloe has finally arrived! She came on Monday April 12th at 5:26pm. She weighed in at 8lbs and 11.3 oz and is 21.1 inches long! Wow! What an amazing feeling it is to have our little girl finally here. Julie and I have officially entered into the world of parenthood!
The labor took about 11 and a half hours as we had to induce on Monday morning and Julie was a rock-star mom through the whole process! She really did whatever it took to get her here naturally. We were worried for a moment that we might had to have a cesarean because she is such a big baby. Well.... you know Julie... a true Vaughters... When she heard that she was even more determined to push as hard as she needed to to have her naturally! Push she did! Out came our little girl in about 26 minutes!

Enough about us! Baby Khloe is just as cute as can be !We are still trying to figure out who she looks like more - I think there is a good combination of both of us (duh !) She definitely has Julies chin and ears, and she has my nose and and eye shape. He eyes are a bluish green right now so it will be interesting to see what color they will end up. She has been such a good eater, she literally attacks the bottle when we give it to her and eats about 4oz each sitting every three hours. She must have gotten that from me! So far far she has been healthy - we were worried that she may have a little jaundice but it appears to have gone away now. As expected she has been sleeping a lot although last night we had our first melt down experience - don't know why, but she finally got to sleep about 3:30am, maybe she was testing out her vocal cords lol! Poor little princess, it was breaking our hearts to hear her cry so hard. Today she is sleeping in her play pen and soaking up some sun by the window - she does love to sun tan just like her ma! She seems to sleep so deeply when she there!
Well that is the update so far everyone! We'll keep you all posted in the weeks, and months to come! Enjoy her pictures!

Dr. Visit 3/31/10

Ok so I had a Dr appt yesterday and they wanted to do an ultrasound to see how big Ms Khloe was going to be so during the ultrasound the technician starts to giggle ans says "oh yeah I can already see she will be a big baby" I asked her why she said that and her reply was " I can see her fat rolls on her neck" We both just laughed and said how cute that was to think about. i can not wait to see her fat little neck, wrists, and I'm sure legs. That is so precious when they're so little. Then she said she was measuring 7.3 lbs to 8.15 lbs (give or take a lb) So basically she could be 6.3 lbs up to 9.15 lbs....isn't that what all babies are at this point?? I am so confused!! So then I waited to see my actual Dr and he examined me and said I was still only 1 cm & 60% effaced (sp?) which sounds good. He wants to see me agin next Wednesday 4/7 if she has not come by then and talk about scheduling me to be induced. I can be induced any day after 4/9 (39 weeks) he is worried that she will be too big if we wait any longer.

I'm hoping the next time I update this blog I will have some pictures of baby Khloe and her fat little neck to add to the blog...I know that's really all everyone cares about anyway, LOL! :)

Lots of Love!
~Julie~

Update on Dr's visit and Maxx's surgery

Ok so now that I am having to go to the Dr's office every single week now. My last appt was on Tuesday 3/23/10 with a Dr. Garcia who is one of the Dr's in the group that I have not met yet. Very nice, sweet man I like him a lot. My blood pressure is a little high so he is going to be watching it closely, he made the comment "oh wow we are going to have a big baby" and of course my rely was, no Dr. I think I am just really fat. He smiled and politely said no you are measuring very large. He says my uterus is measuring 40 cm and I should only be measuring 36 or 37. Last week the midwife who measured me said I was right at 35 cm so who is correct? He ordered me to have an ultrasound done next Wednesday so we can see an approximate weight for Khloe so we won't have any surprises....what does that mean? I'm not too clear, isn't every baby's weight a surprise?? Oh well I guess we will see next week. Also I am 1 cm dialated (sp?) and my lining has started to thin out. He tell me I was a certian % effaced (sp?) but I have forgotten the % now because at the same time he was doing a vaginal exam and said "oh ok here is her head", I said wow you can actually feel her head? "Yep I am touching her head"....CRAZY!! I was so excited that I forgot the other details he said!!

Ok so our little "boy" Maxx had his eye surgery on Wednesday 3/25 to repair his "cherry eye" in the left eye. It was very scary for us we had to drop him off early in the morning and he was going to be sedated. When we went to pick him up at the animal hospital they had schave the front of one of his legs about 2-3 inches and you could see 2 red dots where they had his IV in him, it was so painful to look at. (Oh yeah one more detail when I dropped him off at the hospital in the morning he was horrible in the car, wouldn't sit down wouldn't listen, was so loud with this horrible loud noise he makes in the car, he was sooooo excited to be going for a car ride even though we both knew he should not be as excited as he was especially since he was going to have major surgery done) When they brought him out we both leaned down to pet him and he just wimpered with his huge cone around his neck as if to say "Please take me out of here, I promise I will be good in the car next time" It broke our hearts to see him so weak and miserable. He was so lathargic after we got him home he had no energy to even jump on the couch.
